5/22/13 NHL Playoffs

NHL Playoffs:

Penguins -134 ML

I was right on my lean to the Bruins but I missed my over wager.

Tonight the Penguins face another tough road game at Ottawa.  They played very uninspired in the 3rd period and were taken off their game a bit.  Still it took a miraculous SH goal to send the game to OT and eventually beat them.

A healthy Pittsburgh squad should be a heavy favorite.  They have too many weapons to have the whole team take the night off again.

I’m taking Penguins ML (-134).

MLB:

Yanks -119 ML

I cashed on the Tigers last night as Scherzer was outstanding.

The Yankees have been road warriors, going 13-8 to date.  Hiroki Kuroda is coming off eight shutout innings in his last start.  He also pitched a CG shutout in his last start versus Baltimore.

The Orioles have a good offense but I like the value of New York here.

I’m taking Yankees ML (-119).

NHL:

Bruins/Rangers OVER 5 (+121)

My playoff slide continued last night with a controversial no goal that unraveled the Hawks.

I’m looking at the Bruins/Rangers game tonight.  I see both sides with depth injuries on defense.  I also see Lundqvist might have a shoulder issue.  This would make me lean towards Boston but the value isn’t there tonight.  Instead I’ll play the total.

I’m taking Bruins/Rangers OVER 5 (+121).

MLB:

Tigers ML (-128)

I lost my wagers last night as both home dogs won.

Tonight I’m looking at another road warrior.  Cleveland has been good at home but Corey Kluber has not.  He’s winless in two starts at Progressive.  Max Scherzer has been steady for Detroit with a WHIP of 0.99 in eight starts. He’s also received good run support, getting 7 runs on average from the offense.

I’m taking Tigers ML (-128).

NHL Playoffs:

Chicago -0.5 in regulation time (+132)

My wagers last night got flushed when the Penguins gave up a tying goal late in the 3rd.

Chicago is trending similar to their first series.  They beat up on Minnesota then lost one game with a lackluster effort.  The same thing just happened with Detroit.

I realize that the Wings are a better team than Minnesota (especially goal tending).  But the Hawks bounced back after a loss last time and I expect they will do it again.

I’m Taking Chicago -0.5 in regulation time (+132).
